When the necessity becomes reality
The project to design the new RioFlex main line insert was derived from the need on a Spinach irrigation system, which Italy has around 1,200 hectares of crops cultivated as of 2022. The project was then developed together with a retailer, specialising in the sale of agricultural irrigation products.
Request:
The design of the irrigation system envisaged the use of a 4″ diameter Rioflex main line, onto which inserts were to be placed every 10 metres from which 32mm PEBD risers were to be derived, sprinklers were then to be set off at a distance of 6 metres from each other.
Solution:
In view of the market need, SAB initiated a research into the issue and in a very short time was able to develop the solution of a pre-installed 1″ insert, thanks to which an adequate flow of water could be guaranteed in accordance with the operating pressures required by the system.
In addition to the previously mentioned solution, SAB was also able to develop a further version of the RioFlex main line: Rioflex 5″ high pressure, also totally recyclable but not previously in the catalogue.
Once the study process was completed, the company was able to offer its customer a complete solution, consisting of the following elements:
-Rioflex PE High Pressure 5″ main line
-Derivation Insert 1″ pre-installed

The Rioflex’s simplicity of installation and handling are features that are highly appreciated by the farmer, with less installation time, greater ease of use and lower running costs.
Last but not least, it is worth mentioning that our RioFlex, in all its versions: Pressure, High pressure and low pressure, is highly adaptable to all conditions in which it is to be used and is 100% recyclable, being made entirely of PE (Polyethylene).
